The purpose of this website is to assist evaluators, screeners and administrators in their search for a violence test that will optimally meet their needs. In this website the word "test" is descriptive of self - report tests that incorporate both a Truthfulness Scale and a Violence Scale with professionally acceptable reliability, validity and accuracy. The Truthfulness Scale identifies denial, problem minimization and attempts to "fake good" or lie. The Violence Scale measures the severity of violence risk so the evaluator can match violence severity with appropriate counseling / treatment intensity.

In R.J. Corsini's "Dictionary of Psychology" (1999) violence is defined as the "expression of hostility and rage through physical force directed against persons or property" (p.1052). In this website we also include "verbal, emotional and physical" as facets of violence.

Adult and Juvenile "violence" tests are referenced by name and the test's name is a link to that test's discussion (webpage) on Behavior Data Systems (BDS) website www.bdsltd.com. Each of the following "violence tests" incorporate a Truthfulness Scale and a Violence Scale. Both "Juvenile Tests" and "Adult Tests" are listed with the juvenile tests presented first.
